These Creepy Meatball Eyeballs are the perfect spooky appetizer for Halloween parties! Fun and delicious, they’re a ghoulishly good snack for kids and adults alike!
I’ll be honest. Halloween appetizers are some of my absolute favorites to make! Why? Because they’re equal parts spooky and silly, and they always get people talking. These Creepy Meatball Eyeballs are one of those recipes where you set them down on the table, and everyone does a double-take before bursting out laughing.
The best part? They’re ridiculously easy. I usually juggle costume prep, pumpkin carving, and candy duty, so I don’t have hours in the kitchen. With this recipe, I can pop the meatballs in the oven, top them with mozzarella and olives, and boom—instant Halloween magic!
Another thing I love is how flexible it is. Every batch can be a little different, but they’re always crowd-pleasers!
- Want them spookier? Drizzle on some marinara sauce so they look like bloody eyeballs.
- Prefer they’d be cheesier? Swap in cheddar cubes.
- You can even make them spicy by using jalapeño slices instead of olives.
These little “eyeballs” are proof that Halloween food doesn’t have to be complicated to be fun (and tasty)!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
- fully cooked meatballs
- mozzarella pearls
- olives (you can buy sliced if you like, or slice them yourself)
- Toothpicks (optional)

HOW TO MAKE
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, or the temperature the back of your meatballs calls for if you are not using the same brand.
- If your olives are not sliced already, slice them.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and place the meatballs on the baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, and remove from the oven.
- Set a mozzarella pearl on top of each meatball. *Optional: hold a mozzarella pearl in place with a toothpick to ensure it doesn’t slip off.
- Return to the oven, and bake for an additional 2 minutes.
- Remove the toothpicks from the mozzarella pearls, and place a sliced olive on top, pushing the mozzarella pearl down slightly.
- Serve warm with barbecue sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

If you want to take these Creepy Meatball Eyeballs to the next level, you can serve them with a “bloody” dip—warm marinara, spicy barbecue sauce, or even buffalo sauce works perfectly! The sauces not only add flavor but also make the eyeballs look extra spooky.
Sometimes I even sprinkle a little Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes on top for an added punch. And if you really want to make kids (or the kids-at-heart) laugh, place the eyeballs on a bed of spaghetti so it looks like a bowl of “brains and eyes.” Creepy? Yes. Delicious? Ab-spook-lutely!
So don’t overthink your Halloween menu. This quick, quirky appetizer is all you need to get the spooky fun started!
