Clay Daniel Apley- Born 10/20! Come Meet Our Little Guy!

Clay Apley

Wow it has been awhile since I have blogged! I wanted to get on real quick while Clay is napping to announce he was born on October 20th, at 6:42 pm! It was a bit of a bumpy road getting him here, but he arrived safely! He is such a sweet handsome little guy, and we are so blessed to have him as our son!

I ended up getting induced and everything was going really well, then as the day progressed, Clay starting showing distress and I stopped dilating. I made it to an 8, and I wasn’t progressing. The doctor came in and said we will give it a bit longer but if you don’t progress it is looking like we will have to do a c-section. So, we waited some more and there was no real change. Clay was still showing distress and I was still not progressing. The doctor finally made the call it was time to do a c-section.

I was petrified as having a c-section was a huge fear of mine. But, I had no choice and I wanted Clay to get here safely and I knew I had no other option but to breath deep and go for it. Luckily Adam was able to come in and be by my side. It took quite a bit of medicine to get me numbed up, but it finally worked and we were ready. The procedure went pretty quick, and before we knew it Clay was here! I got nervous cause I didn’t hear him cry at first, I was so scared something was a matter, but then he let out the loudest cry ever. It was such a special moment that I will remember forever! I was able to take a quick look at him, and they got him looked over and then came and laid him on my neck so he could touch a little bit of my skin!

Clay Daniel Apley

Here he is 3 weeks old, holding his head up great! We have had some bumps along the way, he was diagnosed with Salt Wasting CAH, and was in the NICU for almost 1 week. They found this in his newborn screening blood test. It is a life threatening condition and luckily they got him in to the hospital very quick and he is doing better now. He is on meds and will be for the rest of his life. I will do a post about this and what happened here later. I just wanted to let you all get to see him, and finally get to meet the little guy!

Thank you all for following my pregnancy journey, all the love and prayers you have sent our way! We truly appreciate all of them! I will be getting back to work soon, and can’t wait to share pictures of him, and let you guys see him grow up!

38 Weeks Pregnancy Update – Getting So Close!!!

38 Weeks Pregnancy Update

I can’t believe I am officially 38 weeks! We are getting so very close to meeting our little guy, and I am so ready! Or at least I think I am, haha! I know babies take so much work, and being a first time mom and dad we have to learn how to do things! The best advice I have received, is every parent is once a first time mom or dad, you learn as you go, no one knows it all in the beginning! When I was told that, I loved it instantly! They are so right, so I can’t worry about things I don’t know, and just go with the flow and do the best I can!

So here is my 38 weeks pregnancy update, I hope you all have enjoyed this journey we are on! I can’t wait to share pictures of our little guy when he decides to enter the world!

What happened at Last Dr. Appointment: At my last appointment I got checked and I was dilated to 2 cm and 60% effaced. I ended up getting a flu shot as well (first time ever) to try and keep me healthy the last few weeks and through winter to hopefully keep him safe from getting it. We talked about getting induced, and at this time we are going to hopefully go into labor on our own. If you induce before your body is ready he said there is a 60% chance of getting a c-section, if you go in on your own you only have a 5% chance. But, if I start to go over-due then at that time we need to induce, because it can be harmful to the baby. So, I go Monday to get checked again to see if I have progressed and to ensure he is still doing good!

Size of Baby: This week he is the size of leeks! When I had my ultrasound a few weeks back it showed he already weighed 7lbs 4 oz, but they did say that can be off by a whole pound up or down. They say the farther you get the harder it is to truly know his size. Either way he has been measuring ahead this whole time, so it was good to still see he is on track!

Movement: This little guy loves to wiggle and move around. He has certain times during the day where he is more active than others. If I am up through the night he tends to be up moving around then.

Body and Changes: My belly has dropped, and I am feeling him a lot lower. My hips and pelvic area have been extra tender, and I for sure have been waddling around a ton! I have been getting a lot of cramping and braxton hicks. It has been a rough few weeks for sure, I am just exhausted and not feeling well. I have been getting super nauseated, having major heart burn, not sleeping, and in pain a lot. BUT I know I am so close to being done and soon it will all be over!

Sleep: It depends on the day. Some nights I sleep pretty good and other nights I have insomnia and will be up most of the night. I just never know how that day will go. Taking naps is something I am not good at, I try but can’t ever get to sleep. I just lay there, or get text or phone calls keeping me from sleeping. I have had a few successful days though and those days are nice!

Emotions: Oh boy this has been and up and down event. Some days I just feel super emotional from the moment I wake up! The other day for my appointment I was just a mess, I was having a really hard day, and was super emotional. With all my hormones changing and getting so close they say it is normal to have more extreme emotions. I am really feeling it the past week!

Morning Sickness: It has come back hard core. It never fully went away for me, I have been sick this whole pregnancy, but it had let up some. Now it feels like it did when I was first pregnant, which is hard! You just feel so sick and nauseated non-stop from morning till night some days. I am doing a lot of lounging on the couch for sure, and sipping on ginger ale to help!

Cravings: Anything pumpkin, pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin, pumpkin, and more pumpkin! I also am loving Apple Cider, Nacho Cheese Bugles, and back to wanting a lot of meat and cheese!

What I Miss: I miss being able to being able to get around normal. I am just hurting and slow at getting around. Thinking of doing a lot of walking some days about makes me want to cry. My body just hurts.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Just being a little family! After this long wait for him over the past nine months, I am just ready to finally meet him and start becoming a family and living life all together doing regular daily things! I can’t wait to hold and love on him! We are more than excited for this new chapter to start!

Next Doctor Appointment: October 12th!

36 Weeks Pregnancy Update

36 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Woohoo, we are getting closer everyday to meeting lil Baby Clay! My sister-in-law and brother-in-law just had their little girl earlier this week, Sterling, and she is beyond precious! It made it that much more real holding her, knowing that in a month or less that will be us holding our little boy!

Not a ton has changed over the past few weeks, but a few new cravings, of course my belly size has grown! Here is my 36 weeks pregnancy update for you all! Thank you for following my journey, and I can’t wait to share pictures of our little guy once he arrives.

Size of Baby: Little guy is the size of romaine lettuce this week. He is still packing on the pounds at a rate of an ounce a day! He should be weighing around 6lbs and is 18 1/2 inches long or so, from what I have read on the baby app!

Movement: He is moving around a good amount. Some days I think he is a bit more tired so the movement is less. You can tell he has grown over the past few weeks by how strong he is moving around in there!

Body and Changes: Energy level is low, they are not kidding when they say third trimester really wears on your body! Belly is growing bigger, and I am pretty sure he has dropped. I noticed my belly has been a bit lower than normal. I asked my sister and husband and they agree. I feel him a lot lower, so I am wondering if he is engaged or not. I am excited to get my ultrasound next week to find out more. I will get my cervix checked for the first time, so I am anxious to hear if I have dilated or effaced at all. I also have a lot of aches and pains in my stomach and pelvic area. I am moving a bit slower these days!

Sleep: It has been a bit of a struggle. I tend to take forever to finally get to sleep, and when I do I am up multiple times going to the bathroom through the night. When I do actually get to sleep, I sleep decent. I wake up when I move just cause my hips and pelvic area hurt a lot.

Emotions: They are hit and miss. Coming up so close to our due date, I find myself thinking about becoming a mom. It is crazy to imagine what our lives will be like, we are very excited to meet him. I get nervous hoping he is perfect and has no troubles once he enters this world. I know he has the two vessel cord and there are complications that could happen, so I just pray he is okay and healthy!

Morning Sickness: Still going on, unfortunately! I have found the past few weeks I have become more nauseated here and there, so that is a bit sad. I have dealt with morning sickness the whole pregnancy, it would have been nice for it to finally go away.

Cravings: Chocolate milk, which is weird cause I am not a big milk fan. Apples is a new one this week as well. I bought some today to munch on. Lastly sausage, I have been craving it a lot. Normally I don’t eat it very often but I just want it all the time!

What I Miss: Not hurting all the time. Just thinking of walking to get groceries or shop is a major task. I am very slow at moving around, I just have a lot of aches and pains. You get so wore out, in such a little time.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Having Clay here, and just enjoying our little family. I can’t wait to do our first family pictures with our little guy. I have dreamed of that for a long time! I am so excited for the day to arrive for him to be here, get to see who he looks like, learn his sweet personality and give him lots of hugs and kisses!

Next Doctor Appointment: September 29th. I have an ultrasound first then doctors appointment right after!

Weeks 33-35 Pregnancy Update + Baby Bump Picture!

pregnancy update

Boy have I missed you all! I missed a few weeks of my pregnancy updates as we moved and didn’t have internet! Now that it is back on and running, I thought I would just bundle the past few weeks together for you to get caught up on everything!

I had a doctors appointment earlier this week, and all is looking good still. I will go at the end of the month for my ultrasound to ensure he is still growing properly and everything is looking good. Have the 2-vessel umbilical cord has made it to where I get ultrasounds every 4 weeks to ensure he is doing okay. So far we have had no troubles! I then will have a doctor appointment right after and get checked for the first time to see if I am dilating and do the strep-b test. Not gonna lie, I have heard getting checked can hurt, so I am a bit nervous!

It is just unreal we are so very close the the end of this pregnancy! In a little bit baby Clay will be here, I just can’t wait to see what he looks like, and get to cuddle him!

So here is my 33-35 Pregnancy Update, hope you all enjoy!

Size of Baby: Being 35 weeks he is the size of a honeydew melon. Weighs approximately 5.25 lbs. He is growing bigger and bigger each day, and getting ready to come join the world in a few weeks!

Movement: This little guy is so active lately! You can really tell he is growing as his movements are so much stronger. If I have my hand in the right spot when he moves you can almost feel his arm or leg, it is really neat. I love getting to experience him moving around in there, it is like I learn his personality!

Body and Changes: This belly is growing bigger and bigger daily I think! I have noticed I have a bigger appetite lately. I am eating bigger portions and eating often, as I can’t quite get rid of the starving feeling! I have been having a lot more braxton hick contractions, they are getting uncomfortable! I also have been having issues with my hip, it just hurts and makes it hard to walk around with ease. I have a waddle, and sometimes the thought of getting up and moving around makes me want to cry! I’m just uncomfortable and low energy.

Sleep: From my last update, I am happy to say I am sleeping a bit better. Some nights I am still up a lot, but other nights I sleep pretty good through the night. Last night was perfect, I only got up once and slept the rest of the night. I won’t lie I am still exhausted, and I have started napping here and there to help give me some energy!

Emotions: You never know how I will be! Emotions are like a roller coaster still, up and down. I think with the move and knowing our due date is around the corner I am a bit more on edge hoping to get things ready as I can for when he is here!

Belly Button In or Out: Still in, but super stretched!

Morning Sickness: My morning sickness has for sure come back a bit stronger. It never fully went away but it wasn’t as strong as how it was in the beginning and now it is a bit stronger. This morning was a really rough start, but I am feeling a bit better now!

Cravings: KFC chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, ice cream, fresh fruit, and starting to crave sour stuff again.

What I Miss: Moving around at a normal pace. It takes me forever to do anything, I am just slow from hurting and being uncomfortable!

What I Am Looking Forward To: Meeting Clay! I can’t wait to get to meet him and see his sweet face, hear he is perfect and can start our new life as a little family!

Next Doctor Appointment: September 29th.

32 Weeks Pregnancy Update

32 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Here we are again with another weekly update! I am not officially 32 weeks along and here to share the latest stuff that is going on with little baby Apley! He is growing bigger and bigger, as is my belly! We had my 32 week sonogram on Monday as well as a doctors appointment right after.

The sonogram went good, we got a call he is in the 54th percentile of growth, and still measuring ahead a bit. She said everything else looked good and they are going to let me wait and see them in 3 weeks instead of 2. Doctors appointment went good as well, it was super quick, just measured my stomach, listened to heart beat, and talked to the doctor for a minute. I think possibly at my next appointment or potentially the one after I will start getting checked to see if I am dialating and such.

Without further chatter, here is my 32 weeks pregnancy update! You can see what has been going on, and at bottom see a sonogram picture!

32 weeks pregnant Size of Baby: He weights about the same size of a large jicama, which I am not sure what that even is. I am growing like crazy in my tummy area, and I have read that means he is gaining and growing as well. He is plumping up and gaining almost half of his body weight by the time I will deliver.

Movement: He is moving around good, every sonogram they always say how active he is! I can tell he is growing bigger because his movements are so much stronger. I can feel when he rolls around in there, sometimes it does feel a little uncomfortable, but I am so thankful to feel him moving and know he is doing good!

Body and Changes: I am growing so much each day, it seems like my belly is just getting bigger and bigger. I am having so much more aches and pains, in my hips and pelvic area. I know it is my body stretching and doing its thing for me as I am getting closer to deliver.

Sleep: Well, sleep isn’t going that great. I am up multiple times through the night to go potty, and then I can’t get back to sleep. I normally wake up around 2 and stay up till 4-5 am, then I can sleep for a little bit. It makes it hard to have the energy during the day, but I know this is something that most pregnant women go through.

Emotions: Man oh man I am all over the place. We are closing on our new house on Monday, so I think this plays a big role! But, I am super emotional all the time, I cry often, and get super emotional out of the blue! Plus, I was talking to my doctor and he said in the end it is normal to become extra emotional, as you are preparing for birth and the start of a new chapter having a baby!

Belly Button In or Out: Still in, but super stretched!

Morning Sickness: I have been dealing with a lot of nausea lately. I have found when my belly seems to be growing a lot I will get nauseated quite a bit. Luckily medicine helps get it calmed down most of the time!

Cravings: Corn bread, peaches, alfredo noodles, and protein a lot. Anything with meat or cheese is always something I want. I still have yet to have a weird mix of food cravings! I also have been wanting sweets a lot.

What I Miss: Having energy! I am just wore out a lot, or get wore out super quick, so being able to have a normal energy level would be great.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Having him here and starting our lives with him. I can’t wait to see his face and get to hug and kiss on him!!!

Next Doctor Appointment: September 14th.

toesHere is a little picture from the sonogram we did, of his little toes! How cute are they?!
