This delicious Beef Tips and Gravy recipe is super easy to make! You just mix your ingredients in a casserole dish, cover with foil and bake ’til it’s finished!
If you’re looking for an easy beef tips and gravy recipe, look no further! You have come to the right place as I’ve got a recipe for you that is quick, easy, and delicious! Three of my most favorite things!
When the weather gets colder (like we have been having on and off), I love to make nice and hearty meals that stick to your ribs a little bit! Adam works out in the oil field, so if it is cold all day, I want him to come home to a hearty and warm meal!
The weather here is on and off, one day it is warmer and the next it is cold. So on the cold days I take advantage of meals like this for him! Cooler days I always whip up lighter meals like a shrimp spring bowl! The variety keeps things interesting.
This is a NO PEEK recipe, so once it goes in the oven, you just trust it is doing the right thing. You wrap the pan in aluminum foil and you don’t want to peek because all the steam will escape, and you need that to help keep your meat nice and tender!!
This is definitely one of the easiest ways to make beef tips and they turn out delicious baked in the oven with this method.
This recipe uses the shortcuts of an envelope of onion soup mix and a canned soup. If you want your recipe to be even more homemade, you can use homemade onion soup mix and homemade condensed cream of mushroom soup.
This version of the oven baked beef tips includes mushrooms, BUT if you’re not a mushroom-lover we have a simple change you can make. Rather than the cream of mushroom soup you can use cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup or even Campbell’s Cream of Bacon soup. I haven’t tried that soup yet, but it sounds awesome!
We chose to pair this with mashed potatoes, but you can do egg noodles or even rice! I just prefer potatoes, but every now and again I will do egg noodles. I am not the biggest fan of rice, so I seldom do that.

Why to Add Ginger Ale to Gravy
We have been asked why there is ginger ale in this recipe. The first reason is that it can add a nice ginger flavor to the meat (especially if you use real ginger ale). The other is that the carbonation in soda works as a great tenderizer. Carbonized drinks can make beef turn out much more tender.

Making this again for my family tonight.. it was a huge hit and tasted amazing 🤩
Kelsey says
Yay!! I’m so happy to hear that!
Cindy says
Why the ginger ale?
Kelsey says
Ginger Ale can give meat a nice ginger flavor and the carbonization also helps to tenderize.
Andy says
Instead of water or ginger ale, can you use beef broth? Also, how well would this recipe work in a slow cooker?
Kelsey says
If you use beef broth as the liquid, you might want to either leave out the onion soup mix packet or else replace the packet with some minced dried onion instead. Otherwise with both the soup mix and the beef broth it could be too salty.
We haven’t tried it in a slow cooker, but if you do let us know how it turns out!
Susan says
This is so easy and was a huge hit with my family. So, so good! I added the mushrooms. My grocer was out of the onion soup mix so went with beefy onion soup mix. I was worried it might be too salty but it was perfect!
Kelsey says
I’m so glad to hear that you all loved it! That makes my day!
Clint says
I have all the ingredients and I’m about to give it a try. I’m a single father and my son loves rice and gravy with beef. His mom was a great cook but she passed , so I will let you’ll know how it turns out.
Kelsey says
I hope you and your son like it. My condolences on the passing of his mom.
misty says
I’m very sorry to hear of your loss Clint.
Vickie says
Made this this evening. Very easy and a big hit. Although I served it with noodles, mashed potatoes would be delicious.
Kelsey says
Thanks, Vickie! I’m glad it was a hit!
Crystal says
I made your receipt for my employees and let me tell you that it was a hit. Now they want me to make it all the time. Thank you for sharing this great recipe.
Jason says
Can you do this in a slow cooker?
Kelsey says
I have never tried it in a Crockpot, but I’m thinking it would work.
Carol Bledsoe says
Do you add liquid to the mushroom soup and do you add liquid to the gravy and onion soup mixes? Seems like it would be too dry with just one glass of liquid.
Kelsey says
Nope. I only added exactly what’s listed.
Kenneth says
Do you just use the mushroom soup or do you add the milk like in the can directions????
Kelsey says
Just the soup and not the milk from the directions.
Sonia Cochran says
Can I use beef onion soup mix and cream of celery soup I don’t like mushrooms and can I cook it on 400
Linda says
I’m making this right now. I’ve made it before and it was so delicious! But it’s a school night and the kids want it so bad lol. Can I cook it on a higher temperature in the oven to get done quicker ?
Linda says
We are just having one of those busy late nights…I have 3 kids and a juggling schedule to take care of them.
Meri Dean says
If I’m cooking 10 lbs of the stew meat- how long do I need to cook it at 300 degrees???
Crystal Hopson says
Do u make the brown gravy before or just mix the water w it
Nina Jo Jared says
Hi there,
We made this last night and it was awesome. I saw you creating this meal live &
remembered the recipe, kind of. Then in the middle of making just one pound of
beef, because there was only 2 of us, I realized I didn’t remember the ginger ale or
the onion soup mix. So I googled something and found your site!! Long story
longer, I pre-heated the oven to 350 and since it was late I only cooked the dish
for 1 hour and 20 minutes. When I served it up, I only had toast to bring to the
table so to speak. It was amazing. Because of the way I was robbing Peter to
pay Paul, my neighbor Janice has as much in this as I did. Next time I promise to
have all the ingredients for sure on hand & will cook the meal for 3 hours at 300.
I can’t imagine it would be any better than what we created last night but either
way, your site, your beef tip recipe is now part of two households. We aren’t
spring chickens but we will be passing this along to everyone!! Thank you very
much.
