This is My Favorite – Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

The other day I had a craving for a cinnamon bread. I am such a fun of sweet breads, so I thought it was time to try out a new recipe :-)! This bread is a perfect concoction of cinnamon and sugar that really makes this bread rate high in my books! Having the topping of the cinnamon sugar mixture really adds a lot to this bread.

The recipe is pretty easy and quick to whip up, so if you are wanting to try this out, go right ahead I think you will enjoy it. This makes one loaf, but if you are wanting more I think it would double okay, I just personally haven’t tried that, so I can’t say fully what it would do. I am such a fan of this Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread recipe. I can’t remember where I got this recipe at, since I have used it for quite some time, I can’t take credit for this perfect recipe!!

Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread

 Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil (i used canola but veggie or something similar will work)
  • dash of salt

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbs cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Take your 9×5 loaf pan and grease it and set aside.
  2. In my KitchenAid mixer I combined the flour, baking soda, sugar and salt. I mixed the dry together for just a second then added the buttermilk, egg, and oil. Mix on low until well mixed.
  3. Pour the mixture into your greased pan.
  4. In a small bowl you will want to mix the 1/2 cup sugar, and the 1 tbs cinnamon together. Then add about half of the mixture over the top of the dough. Take a knife and swirl it around into the mixture. Once it is mixed some, you will take the leftover cinnamon mixture and just pour it evenly over the bread. This will give it that crust and it will make it taste so good!
  5. Bake the bread for 30-40 minutes. You will cook the bread until it comes out clean when you stick a toothpick in.
  6. Depending on where you live or your oven the bread might take longer to cook.

Cinnamon Bread

I wanted to share this picture so you can see what the bread will look like before it goes in the oven. I know it may look weird with all that extra cinnamon sugar mix on top but it does bake in some and gives it a nice crust. The picture above this one, shows when I swirled in part of the mixture.

As you can see this recipe is pretty easy to whip up, and is great for breakfast, snack, or whatever your heart desires. What kind of breads do you make that you love? I am always up for trying out new recipes!
