Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies – My Mother-In-Laws Famous Recipe

chewy chocolate chip cookieMy mother-in-law makes the best chewy chocolate chip cookies. They are a perfect amount of sweet and nice and chewy! I don’t like cookies that are hard, and hers are always amazing. There is a tiny crunch and then the centers are always so nice and soft!

I was out at there farm last Saturday and I was talking to her about how she makes them so amazing everytime, and she said she uses bread flour. They are a thicker cookie rather then very flat. I said that is so interesting, I would have never thought to do that on my own! So she shared her amazing recipe with me, and I thought I would share it with you all ;-)!

Chewy Chocolate Chip CookiesI mean look at those babies..  heaven on earth here I come!!!  They are so soft, and the chocolate is just heavenly! When they are warm I love how in the picture you can see it will just melt in your mouth! She loves semi-sweet chocolate, and that is what she uses in her cookies, and it just throws them over the moon on flavor! I never was a huge semi-sweet chocolate fan until I had her cookies!!  I came home and made her famous cookies and they turned out great, just like hers!! Now if you don’t want to use semi-sweet you can substitute for milk to tame them down.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks of softened margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 1 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree's
  2. I used my KitchenAid but you can do by hand or a different mixer. First you will want to mix the butter, and both sugars until well mixed. It will be a creamy texture.
  3. Then add the eggs one at a time stirring it well. Once well mixed add the flour one cup at a time, along with baking soda.
  4. Once it is all mixed well, you will add the bag of chocolate chips.
  5. Once well incorporated you will then drop onto baking sheet. Keep them in like a ball form, and do not flatten them. This will help them on being a thicker cookie!
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, they will be a bit soft still, and that is the way you want them. Over baking will dry out cookies and make them a bit crunchy. Put on baking rack and allow to cool. Then store in a container with lid, or bag!

Mine would end up going flat when I cooked them I read that that means you are beating them too hard or the consistency is off. Well with the bread flour I had no problem with them! I was beyond Shocked!!
