Coca-cola, mustard and brown sugar make this easy shredded ham recipe amazingly delicious! It’s nicely sweet with a little bit of tang.
Here is a great recipe, that makes holiday ham taste a bit different then the normal ham we grew up having. This shredded ham only takes 4 ingredients and is a nice sweet ham with a little bit of tang to it. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law used this recipe a few years back, and each year it is our first choice of ham for the holidays!! I ended up making this one for my side for Thanksgiving!
Mouthwatering Shredded Ham Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cured ham, I used a 4 lb half a ham. 1 – 2 liter of coca cola 1/4 yellow mustard 1 cup brown sugarDirections:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
What you need to do is take your ham and poke tons of holes in it, all around. This will help the flavors to soak in. Then take your mustard and brown sugar and mix it in a separate bowl. Apply the glaze onto the ham, and then pour your cola into the pan with the ham and glaze. You want it to fill the pan a few inches from the top.
Then cover the ham and put into the oven. Cook the ham for around 5-8 hours, depending on the size of your ham. You will need to baste it every hour to hour and a half. Once it has baked for awhile and is starting to get a bit brown you can shred it, and leave it in the cola and such to help soak in the flavors. When you go to shred ham, it should just fall apart easily, if not let it cook longer before pulling apart. That is why I said depending on size, cook time might vary. If the cola starts to go down you can add more to it. Mine did good and I only used about 1/2 of the 2 liter or coke.
Then serve ham and enjoy. It is so delicious I can’t even tell you!!
