I love Chinese food, and I have never really tried making it myself. So I was searching the wonderful world of Pinterest and came across a recipe for chinese peppered chicken and thought I would give it a go! Frugal Mom Eh! had this recipe on her site and as I was reading it I really debated on making it or not.
One of the ingredients was oyster sauce, one I am not a fan of oysters at all.. and then she said don’t be scared it doesn’t taste like oysters! I was like whew, that was a relief right there!! So as I read on and she said don’t worry it won’t taste fishy, and it has a nice mix between saline-sweet flavor I thought okay, I am officially on board!!
I like to step out of my comfort zone and attempt new things, and that is the only way to know if I will enjoy it or not right?! I have to say Pinterest has been a wonderful way to try out new food recipes. I have some new favorites that I found on there, and I am over joyed!! We are not a family that has the same meals over and over again, I like a variety and to step outside of the every night dinner menu!!
Now Enough Jibber-Jabber and On To The Recipe…
This recipe is adapted from Frugal Mom Eh! – Some of the items I didn’t have on hand so I improvised, and I still think it turned out pretty darn good!!
Ingredients:
1 lb boneless skinless chicken cut into little bite size pieces ( I used tenderloins) 1/2 cup oyster sauce 2 Tbs soy sauce (divided) 1/2 Tbs black pepper 1 tsp white vinegar 1 tsp honey 1 tsp agave nectar 2 tbs oil to fry chicken in ( I used canola but said you can use Peanut, Sesame as well) 2 green bell peppers cut up 1 yellow onion
