One of my favorite foods is macaroni and cheese. I find that it is such a nice comfort food that makes me feel so warm and happy inside! From a box or homemade I love it!! I was asked to share the KFC Copy Cat Macaroni and Cheese Recipe, so here it is!
I was actually pretty surprised at how easy the recipe they had was. Plus very little ingredients which shocked me. I know some recipes you find have like 1900 ingredients and steps you have to follow. Food.com has a very simple recipe that I decided to try out. Now we didn’t have any whole milk so I used a Lactaid Free 2%, and it still turned out good. I think if you were to use whole milk that it would maybe taste a bit different.
Okay okay.. enough with my rambling and lets get on to the recipe.. shall we!
Ingredients:
2 cups elbow macaroni
3/4 cup Velveeta cheese
2/3 cup mild yellow cheddar cheese
1/3 cup whole milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
How to Make:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a saucepan you will want to boil water and cook 2 cups of elbow macaroni as directed on the box. Also add the dash of salt into the pasta water while it cooks to add flavor. While that is cooking you will want to put your milk, shredded cheese, and velveeta cheese in a separate pan and cook on low until it is a nice creamy consistency. You will need to stir here and there to keep it from burning.
Once your pasta is cooked you will want to drain it, but don’t run cool water over it. Just drain and then pour the cheese sauce in and stir until well mixed and place in oven for 10-15 minutes.
Then serve, and enjoy! I added salt and pepper to mine once it was done. It did taste similar to KFC’s mac n cheese, but I thought it was a little bland. Next time I might add a little more cheese to it. Note, I am a huge cheese addict so it might taste just fine to you as is ;-).
Feel free to Pin on Pinterest so you can have this recipe on hand when you need it! If you have any recipes you would like me to share with you all, just leave a comment or email me, and I will do my best to make it!!
AND if you are a KFC lover, I recently did their Coleslaw recipe, and let me tell ya, it was ahh-mmmazzeeeiiinnnggg!!
