Recipe for Spinach and Beef Stuffed Shells

Spinach and Beef Stuffed Shells

I decided last night to make spinach and beef stuffed shells for dinner. I know there are tons of recipes out there for stuffed shells that don’t have meat in them. My husband is a huge meat lover and I know he wouldn’t have loved these if there wasn’t meat :-)! I have to say that these turned out fabulous, and it was my first time making them! I surfed the internet and didn’t find any recipes that hit me perfectly so I decided to make up my own recipe.

Now I used jar sauce, to make it quicker – but you are welcome to use any homemade sauce or jar sauce your family enjoys!! I also paired this with garlic bread, as the side. Salad would be great as well! So here is my Spinach and Beef Stuffed Shells recipe I came up with!

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
Box of Shells (I used medium sized ones)
1 jar of spaghetti sauce (I used Ragu Garden Combination)
1 container of (15 oz) Ricotta cheese
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup spinach ( I used the frozen and just thawed it and made sure to drain all water from it)

pasta sauce

How to Make:

First off Preheat your oven to 350 degree’s.

Then cook the shells as directed on their box and ground your beef in another pan.

(Tip for cooking shells: Make sure not to overcook or when you go to fill them, they will tear easily)

In a bowl you will want to mix your ricotta cheese, Parmesan, 1 cup of mozzarella, and the spinach. Once the meat is done, allow to cool for a couple minutes, and then pour in this cheese mixture.

Drain your pasta once done, and allow to cool so you can handle them okay.

In the bottom of your 9×13 pan, you will want to grease it, then add some of the sauce to the bottom of the pan. This will make the past not stick.

Then take a shell and stuff it with some of the meat/cheese mixture and then place in the pan.

Repeat until all the meat and pasta shells are done.

Then you will add the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the shells. Then take the rest of the sauce and sprinkle over the top of the shells!

Then bake covered for 30 minutes. Then take foil off and bake for another 15-20 minutes.

Then they will scoop out pretty easy and serve.  Love to hear if you try this what you think about it! Feel free to pin on pinterest as well!
