To make decorating fun, easy AND adorable we have this easy DIY patriotic bunting craft! This rustic style bunting uses old blue jeans along with red and white striped fabric and strips of burlap to create a flag bunting to decorate your home, your front porch, your BBQ space or classroom. The instructions are easily adjustable to make your bunting as big or as small as you would like. If you don’t have an old pair of jeans to use, you can always buy a small piece of new denim or head to your local thrift shop to pick up a pair of jeans.

No Sew 4th of July Flag Bunting Process Start

½ yard Red and White Stripe fabric
¼ yard denim fabric or you can use an old pair of blue jeans
hot glue
hot glue gun
white acrylic paint
small paint brush

No Sew 4th of July Flag Bunting Stars

  1. Cut the red and white striped fabric to approximately 9 ¾ x 5 ½ inches.  We cut out 8 flags for this bunting.
  2. Next, cut the denim. We used an old pair of kidsjeans that were outgrown and had too many holes in them to donate.  You will need to cut out 8 rectangles.  Ours are not all exactly the same size (that’s part of its charm) but they are between 3 ¼ and 3 ½ inches long and 2 ½ and 2 ¾ inches wide.
  3. Using a small paint brush draw a star on each of the blue jean patches.  You could leave them as just the outline or paint them in.  It’s all personal preference!  Let the paint dry. No Sew 4th of July Flag Bunting Burlap
  4. Cut 4 long strips of burlap.  Don’t worry about being straight or perfect.  The burlap will fray a bit.  The strips should be about 25 inches long each.
  5. Tie them together to make one long strand.
  6. Now comes piecing everything together.  Fold one side of each of your flags.  We folded ours down 2 ½ inches making each flag the same size. No Sew 4th of July Flag Bunting Piece Together
  7. Using the hot glue gun, glue on your star patches on the top right hand corner.
  8. Next, flip over your flag to the back.  Lift the ‘flap’ open and place your burlap leaving yourself enough room on the ends to hang it, hot glue the burlap to the flag.  (We hot glued each side of the burlap) Then close shut.
  9. Repeat.  We did 2 flags before each of the burlap knots on mine.
  10. Hang your flag bunting!

This DIY Patriotic Bunting Craft features easy to make flags using old blue jeans! It's a new-sew project perfect for Memorial Day or the 4th of July.

Let Freedom Ring 4th of July Inspired Sign Silhouette Craft

With 4th of July right around the corner I thought it would be fun to make a cute 4th of July Inspired Sign to decorate with using the Sketch Pens from Silhouette! I used the pen to write the words on the paper, then cut out some blue and red stars to add to it! I think it turned out pretty good. I had black and white pens, they do have lots of colors to choose from though in the Sketch Pens!

Silhouette Sketch Pen Using the Sketch Pens in my Silhouette Cameo was really easy! All you do is remove the blade, and replace it with one of the sketch pens. It fits right in, and only takes a second to pop in. Then just pick out a design you want, I used the “Let Freedom Ring” Design ID #61940  in the Silhouette Store.

Silhouette Sketch Pen

Then once you get your design the size you want it, you just select the Silhouette Sketch Pen for the cut setting, and replace your blade with choice of pen. Then click start and it will begin to create your design! It is super easy to do, and doesn’t take any more effort then cutting a design!

With the pens I will say depending on the paper, will determine how well it works. I had a red and blue card stock paper that had a little bit of lines on it, the sketch pens didn’t show up very well on them, so using these pens it is best if you use flat plain paper.

Now through July 5th you can head over to and score 30% off everything! I really love my Silhouette Cameo, it can do so much, and it makes crafting fun and really easy! If you own a Silhouette Machine you can even buy accessories like vinyl, sketch paper, sketch pens, and much more!

Do you enjoy doing crafts? If so what kind?!
This DIY Let Freedom Ring Sign with Silhouette Sketch Pens is perfect for celebrating the 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!!

4th of July

Just wanted to wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July!! I hope you guys can all enjoy the day :-)! I took this picture last night and if you look at the top left you can see a cross! I thought it was so neat, and I just had to share this picture!!

My husband is off with his dad to see his grandpa who is in the hospital, and grandma. He is getting better but just has to stay there until he is able to walk good on his own. So I will be home for the day and then this evening we will probably shoot some more fireworks off and watch our towns firework display! I am thankful ours hasn’t got cancelled as some towns around us are thinking of or already postponed due to dry and windy weather.

Do you have big plans for today!?
