Surviving winter with kids can often be quite a challenge! Sure, they love snow days spent building snowmen and drinking hot cocoa by the fire. But let’s face it, most days the relentless cold weather leaves us stranded inside fighting cabin fever. By this time every year I’m on the hunt for a warm winter family vacation to get us out of the cold and back into the sun! So I’ve put together this list of my favorite warm destinations to share with all of you. Say GOOD-BYE blustery cold winter blues, HELLO sunshine and strappy sandal shoes! So hop in your car (www.reedmantollnissanofdrexelhill.com) and get some miles on those tires, and enjoy a fun family vacation!
Forget building snowmen and take the kids to the beach to build sandcastles on the beautiful Grand Cayman Islands, Seven Mile Beach. Enjoy snorkeling in the crystal clear water, parasailing, boating, kitesurfing, horseback riding or head over to Stingray City for a once-in-a-lifetime experience your family will never forget. There are several resorts, hotels, villas and condos to book accommodations throughout the island.
Hotel del Coronado
Take the family ice skating on the beach at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California. Yes, you read that right, ICE SKATING on the BEACH! Your family will enjoy ice skating on the 10,000 square foot lawn that is transformed into an ice skating rink overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, complete with hot cocoa and holiday music. But the fun doesn’t stop there! This beautiful family resort located on 31 oceanfront acres has loads of activities including kayaking, bike rentals, fishing and sailing. Or escape to the spa for a much needed Swedish massage while the kids have fun at the Kidtopia program or Teen Vibz activity center.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
For a truly unique vacation, head to Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in Orlando, Florida. With an array of attractions from animal exhibits to safaris and roller coasters, there is something here to please everyone in the family! With 1,700 animals and over 250 different species your family can participate in guided tours of the property as well as interactive encounters and private VIP safaris.
Atlantis Paradise Island
The all-inclusive resort, Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas is possibly the best family vacation spot there is, which is why I’ve saved it for last! First of all, all-inclusive is a big deal in my family. Not having to worry about food or drink will save you time and money. From casual to fine dining, there are more than 20 places to grab a bite to eat with an array of food to choose from. No one will be hungry on this trip! The resort itself is gorgeous and has plenty of things to do for the whole family. Swim with the dolphins for an unforgettable experience at Dolphin Cay, snorkel the ruins of Atlantis or spend the day at the 141 acre waterpark.
Wherever your family vacations this winter, the important thing is to have fun and spend quality time together. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from family vacations. So remember to relax, have fun and create those memories! From my family to yours, safe travels!
