DIY Cinnamon Ornaments For The Tree

DIY Cinnamon Ornaments

I remember when I was in elementary school we would make Christmas Ornaments that made the room smell so nice!! The older I got I realized they were Cinnamon Ornaments!  I thought it would be fun to make them and share with you all in case you have a memory of making them from the past or maybe never heard of them and want to give it a go!

They are so easy to make and only take 2 ingredients! These DIY Christmas Ornaments are easy to mix up and then cut into the shapes you want, and before you know it they are ready to bake! You want them to get nice and hard that way they stay together when  they are on the tree. Mine took about 2 hours to cook at 200 degrees. It made the house smell pretty good!!! Really made it feel like Christmas Time!

DIY Cinnamon Ornaments

I actually used a straw to cut the little hole for the string to go through! It worked really well and I had it on hand! You can use whatever you want, I just thought I would share what I used just in case you needed help figuring out what to use!

DIY Cinnamon Ornaments

This made quite a few ornaments and I have bigger size cookie cutters! You can use any size of cookie cutters you want. As for the string I just used what I had on hand. You don’t have to have a particular one, feel free to do whatever you want!

I hope you enjoy this fun Christmas Craft! Have you made these in the past? If so I would love to hear :-D!

DIY Cinnamon Ornaments For The Tree

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup apple sauce
  • string
  • scissors
  • cookie cutters
  • something to make hole for string (I used a straw)

Instructions

  1. First off I tossed the cinnamon into my KitchenAid and then poured the apple sauce over it. You want to mix it till it forms a ball. You might have to add a little of cinnamon or apple sauce to it, to get it the right texture.
  2. Once you have it mixed well you want to put down some cinnamon on the counter and roll out the dough till it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Take your cookie cutter and shape it, and then poke a whole at the top for the string to go.
  4. Place on a baking sheet (feel free to your parchment paper to prevent sticking). Bake at 200 degree's for around 2 hours. You want them to be pretty hard.
  5. I then let them sit and in the morning I added the string to them and hung them on the tree. You are welcome to do it right away once they are cooled.
