Super Easy Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

I don’t know about you, but I like to save money by making my own homemade food like this Easy Homemade Taco Seasoning.  In this fast paced world we live in, it’s so easy to just live off of processed food. I am guilty of this from time to time myself. A few years ago, I decided to try to make some of my own seasonings. I was so surprised by how easy it is and how much more flavorful our food tastes!

My family absolutely loves any food that is Mexican or Tex-Mex. We could live off of tacos and be completely content. Okay, I would still need chocolate to survive, but we could almost survive off of tacos alone! The best part of most of the Mexican dishes I make is that they are inexpensive and I can use my own Homemade Taco Seasoning to save even more money. Most of the ingredients you probably already have in your cabinet, so this is an inexpensive recipe as well!

This seasoning is great because it doesn’t have all the sodium and you know exactly each of the ingredients that goes in it. You can add it to tacos, burritos, enchiladas or any other Mexican dish you can think of. It is also delicious if you add it to some ranch dressing for a little kick!  I would also recommend my sister’s Easy Beef Enchilada Recipe!  Just add 2 heaping tablespoons and 1 cup of water to the browned hamburger and simmer for 5 minutes.

Easy Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

Ingredients

4 TBSP Chili Powder
3 TBSP plus 1 TSP Paprika
3 TBSP Ground Cumin
1 TBSP plus 2 TSP Onion Powder
1 TSP Garlic Powder
1/4 TSP Cayenne Pepper (or a little more if you prefer it hotter)

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together.
Store in airtight container or glass jar.
For use, add 2 heaping TBSP per 1 pound of meat with 1 cup water.

I also love to decorate my kitchen with homemade spices and seasonings. The look of mason jars filled with different seasonings adds a special “homey” feeling and an inviting atmosphere. If you plan to use Mason Jars, you can add easy flip-top lids for quick access.

Ingredients

  • 4 TBSP Chili Powder

If you are looking for an easy philly cheesesteak sandwiches recipe, you have come to the right place! Now I have never been to Philly, and I know my sandwich will never compare to the famous sandwiches they serve up! These are my take on a philly sandwich, and I think you will enjoy it. I love the rich pepper an onion paired with the steak and cheese. Now we dip ours in mayo or I make au jus for it, but you can eat it plain if you prefer.

Okay since I have made these, I found something I wanted to share with you all! They are these silicone cutting mats! They are an anti-slip and Anti-microbial- 99% Germ-resistant! How they are made means they offer a built-in defense properties that inhibit the growth of stain- and odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew, thus always at work to keep the mats bacteria-free between cleanings. They have a little picture on the side so you can use the color for certain foods. Like green is veggies, red is beef, and so on!

I picked up these hoagie rolls at our local store and they were perfect! They almost had a croissant taste to them, that was a really nice flavor pairing! You can make your own rolls or if you feel adventurous! For the ease of it, I bought mine!

You can make this recipe as large or small as you would like! It is perfect for just one or two people, or serve up a huge family, it is a very versatile recipe! You just make according to how many people are coming, and the flavors still come out perfect each time!

Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium-Large Steak (You can use any flat iron, Kc Strip, Ribeye)
  • 1 Yellow onion
  • 1 Large Green Bell Pepper
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Provolone Cheese (I bought a pack of slices)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3-4 hoagie rolls

Instructions

  1. First off Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Next you want to season your meat well with salt and pepper. A 1 lb steak can make around 3-4 sandwiches if you are curious on what this will serve. Dice up your steak into thin strips and set aside.
  2. Grab your onion and pepper and thinly slice these as well into strips.
  3. In a non-stick pan add your 1 tablespoon butter to the pan on medium heat. Add your meat and let it start to brown. After about 5 minutes add in your onions and peppers. Salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Cook until the meat is cooked through and the peppers and onions are a little tender.
  5. Once cooked take your hoagie buns and cut in half and fill with the meat mixture. Top with 2 slices of provolone cheese. Do this until all your meat mixture is gone.
  6. Wrap each sandwich tightly in aluminum foil, and place in a baking dish. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve and enjoy

You can make this even more of a time-saver by turning it into a freezer meal! Prepare a larger batch of the meat and veggies and freeze in meal-size portions. Then when you want a quick dinner, just defrost the mixture and pick up at step #5 of the recipe for a super quick dinner. I just bought this set of meal-prep containers last week and am loving them so far. The lids attach very securely and they are freezer, dishwasher and microwave safe! I did read a tip in a review that it is a good idea to make sure the lid is well vented (as in turned to the side or even taken off) to make sure it doesn’t warp during microwaving and that is what I have been doing. They are such a convenient size!

I zap them in the microwave for a few seconds or let it thaw and it chilled. Either way they are a delicious treat anytime of the day!

A great alternative to disposable paper baking cups, they can be used again and again. You can put them directly on a baking sheet and bake them, they stand up nicely and are not flimsy! These moist apple cinnamon muffins are so awesome, I can’t say it enough! I hope that if you make these you enjoy them! Clay absolutely loves them! I love the nice chunks of apple in them, it really adds a delicious flavor and dimension to the muffins.

Ingredients

  • 1 large apple finely chopped apples (about 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups)
  • ⅓ cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup milk (room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. First off you want to warm up the coconut oil so that it is melted.
  2. Then in a large bowl, mix your softened coconut oil, milk, vinegar, brown sugar, vanilla and egg.
  3. Once well combined, add in your flours, baking soda and baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
  4. When it is well combined, slowly fold in your diced apples.
  5. Spoon into baking cups and bake for about 12-15 minutes. Depending on your oven time will vary. Stick a toothpick in and when it comes out clean they are done.

Calling all you pumpkin lovers, I have a delicious recipe for you today! It is moist pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, they truly are heavenly! I am all about nice and moist muffins and this recipe doesn’t disappoint! The key here is watching your baking time, if you over-bake them they will not be moist! If you follow the recipe and keep a close eye on the time, you should have perfectly moist pumpkin chocolate chip muffins in no time!

These Pumpkin Muffins Freeze Beautifully

I am a huge fan of pumpkin, and it turns out Clay is as well. He will eat a whole muffin by himself, he just loves them! These work great to freeze, and then take them out when you want one or two and just let thaw. You can toss them in the microwave as well for a few seconds to warm up, I prefer to let them thaw by themselves and eat when still a little cold!

I was also going to say if you haven’t tried using silicone muffin pans, they are really nice! These are BPA Free, dishwasher safe, and heat resistant up to 450 degrees! These make the cleanup so simple, no mess, or stuck on gunk, it just wipes right off!  As well as being great for baking cakes, these pans can also be used for your other culinary creations such as for cooking tartlets, mini cheescakes, small chicken pot pies, quiches and lasagnes and even as molds for making soap!  They are truly a great piece to have in your kitchen stock!

So, lets get to the recipe, this is very easy to mix up, and I always use my KitchenAid mixer, it just makes the prep easier for me, but if you don’t have one, a spatula or hand mixer works just as good!

Moist Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Ingredients

  • 1 Can of Pumpkin (2 cups of puree)
  • 1 Cup Canola Oil
  • 2 Tsp Vanilla
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 3 Cups all purpose flour (sifted)
  • 2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips (I used semi sweet but you can use what you want)

Instructions

  1. First off you want to preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Then you want to mix your eggs, pumpkin, oil, sugar and vanilla together.
  3. In a separate bowl sift your flour, and then add your baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon in to the mixture.
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet. Once it is close to fully mixed, add in your vanilla extract.
  5. When it is all mixed up, add in 3/4 of your chocolate chips, and hand stir them in.
  6. Pour into your muffin tins and top the muffins with remaining chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for around 15-20 minutes. Depending on your oven will depend on cooking time. Stick a toothpick in them and if it comes out clean they are done.

Notes

These do freeze nicely, just place in a freezer pack and get as much air out of it as you can. Then just take them out as you want to eat them.
