Super Easy Pulled Pork- Made in A Dutch Oven

Pulled Pork Made in A Dutch Oven

I bought a Pork Roast on sale a few weeks back and decided I wanted to try and make some Pulled Pork in a Dutch Oven!  If you don’t have a dutch oven you can use a crock style and it will work too. You don’t do any cooking on the stove with this recipe, just cooking in the oven. Having the crock or dutch oven gives the perfect cooking for the meat. If you were to do this recipe in the crock pot for instance the texture and such would be a little bit different.

This is a very easy recipe with little ingredients. My roast was 3 lbs, and it didn’t take too long to cook up. If you want to do a bigger roast you will need to add time to it! Since their is only two of us, we didn’t need a ton of shredded pork!

Pulled Pork Made in A Dutch OvenIngredients:

Pork Roast – ours was boneless and 3lbs. You can do a bigger one if you want.
1/2 cup apple juice
1 tsp Liquid Smoke
Salt and Pepper
1 tbs. Pork Rub ( We used McCormicks Grill Mates Pork Rub)

How to Make:

1. First off you want to preheat the oven to 275 degrees.
2. Spray your dutch oven with cooking spray. Then in a ramekins add the apple juice and liquid smoke. Sit down in the corner of the pan. Make sure not to spill it.
3. Next you will rinse off your roast and apply the rub on both sides of the pork roast, then season with salt and pepper. Place roast in the dutch oven and put lid on and start cooking!
4. I tossed my roast in at noon and pulled it out at 5:15 and it was very nice and tender and it pulled apart so easily. I know I probably cooked it longer then it needed but I like to cook longer then risk it not being done.
5. Once roast is done, carefully remove ramekin with the apple juice in it, and then the roast. Once it is cooled down enough, you can start shredding.
6. Then serve on a bun with your favorite bbq sauce or eat plain! You can store the rest in a covered dish in the refrigerator!

Pulled Pork Made in A Dutch OvenNOTE: The rule of thumb for pork roasts is to cook them 25 minutes per pound of meat at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Use a thermometer to read the internal temperature of the roast.

So if you want to cook a bigger roast, make sure to follow this cooking time.

 Pulled Pork

This pulled pork turned out really good. It had a good amount of flavor but wasn’t over-powering. I am going to make Pork Enchiladas tonight with the left over meat. I wanted the meat to not be super seasoned that way I could use the leftovers for other recipes!
